The Adventures of Asterix is a French comic created by René Gosciny (writter) and Albert Uderzo (draftsman), two comic strips lovers during the 50's.

The very first comics was named Asterix the Gaul and was published in October, 29th 1959. The comic strip was an instant hit in so far as the humor matched all the age brackets. Besides, the diversity of the characters, and their obvious caricatures allows any reader to identify himself to one of the characters.

In a nutshell, all the adventures happen in 50 B.C when all the Gaul is under Roman occupation but a little village where there are some Gauls left who resist proudly.
In spite of the number of Romans, the Gauls are able to resist their pressure and attacks thanks to a magic potion that provides them with an unbelievable strength. The magic potion is prepared by the druid of the village, Panoramix, who is very valuable for the Gauls.

After being released in comic strips, the adventures of Asterix were also released in movies and animated movies, and each one was a hit, following the example of Asterix and Obelix take on Caesar.
