Baccarat is a card game that can be played in casinos or gambling web sites.
Its apparitions in the British and American literature as well as in various films may have contributed to the popularity of the game. Indeed, Baccarat made some apparitions in Dr.No, the first book depicting the adventures of James Bond and in Golden Eye, which helped give a fashionable image to baccarat.

The principle of the game is fairly simple, the croupier deals 2 cards to the bank and 2 cards to the player. The player has to bet beforehand on the future winner : the bank, the player, or tie. The winner is the one whose sum of cards is the closest to 9.
In order to count the points, the croupier checks the cards' value : Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 0. Aces are worth 1 point, and cards from 2 to 9 are worth their own value.

However, it is impossible to score more than 9 points. As a matter of fact, the tens digit is dropped. In this way, if a player receives an Ace and a 4, he scores 5 points (1+4=5), but if he receives a 7 and then another 7 he scores 4 points (7+7=14=4). Same thing, a 9 and a 8 are worth 7 (9+8=17=7).

If the total of a player or the bank is 8 or 9, they both stand and the winner is designated. If neither the player, nor the bank achieve this result, they have to draw another card. The player must draw if he scored less than 6 points, and the bank draws if it scored less than 7 points.
