Batman is a comic book character created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The stories revolving around his adventures were published by DC Comics for the first time in 1939 in the “Detective Comics #27”. Needless to say, Batman became the world's most famous superhero. An animated series, several movies, many illustrators, his own comic book...Batman didn't take a wrinkle!

Alfred is the only person who knows about Wayne's double life, and he proves to be a great supporter and adviser. In some Batman stories, Batman has a sidekick, a young kid named Robin. The making of the duo fed the many rumors on Batman's alleged homosexuality...

Batman's costume is a black cap, bat-like ears, a mask, and a utility belt (he presses a button and the second after he's hooked on a building's wall!). He has many gadgets or conveniences with the prefix “bat”: a batmobile, a batcycle, a bat cave, a batplane,
Batman is one of the rare superheros with no superpowers. He only makes use of technology and intelligence and never kills. He operates at night, when the bat-signal is on: a searchlight, with a bat insignia in the middle of the lens, shines the bat-signal in the night!

Batman faces many villains. Several recurrent villains give him a bad time: the Joker, Catwoman, the Penguin, the Two-Face and the riddler. He never got rid of them completely because well the show must go on! Actually, the readers, or spectators, are not given a single clue on when exactly in history do the Batman's adventures take place. Gotham looks like a replica of New York City in the near future, but Batman comics are like a collection of short and non-connected stories with no intention to draw an accurate time-line.

Many actors with a pronounced jawline have put on their shoulders Batman's suit: George Clooney, Micheal Keaton, Christian Bale. For Tim Burton's Batman, Keaton had to wear a 31 kilos costume everyday!! Batman took a dark side many time in his history: in Moore's Killing Joke, in Miller's Dark Knight returns, and in a strip where he is seen dying...
