Bolt is the main character of the eponymous animated cartoon released in 2008 in the US. The animated cartoon tells the story of a dog star, lead of a TV series who really believes in his superpowers. Together with his friend Penny, he constantly has to preempt vile Doctor Calico's plans.

As he lives in the studios, Bolt thinks that all the adventures he experiences truly happen to him in the real life.

But one day, Bolt thinks he witnesses his team mate being kidnapped. Without thinking ahead, he decides to chase the villain and ends up hurting himself in the window pane. He falls unconscious into a box, and as no one realizes he is missing – and that he could be into the box – the dog is sent from Hollywood to New York.

When he wakes up New York, he realizes he has no superpowers and that he is just a normal dog. With the help of a cat (Mitten) totally embittered and cynical, and of a fatty hamster, fan of Bolt, the young dog decides to go back to Hollywood to find Penny.

In the end and after some misunderstandings, everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds. Penny decides to retire from the movie industry and takes Bolt, Mitten and the fatty hamster with her in her country house.
