Tom's Games > Boss
Whoever worked in a company or played platform video games in his life knows what a boss is.
A boss is a figure of authority. Remember at school when you were taught the basis of the corporate world? Your teacher probably drew a pyramid on the black board and told you that it represented the hierarchical structure of a company: each line of the pyramid is like a group of workers, subordinated to the line of workers just above it.
From the basis of the pyramid to the near top, a whole range of workers make use of their skills to earn a salary and to please the very top of the pyramid: the boss.
Like a cherry toping a cake, a boss in a company is usually a self-employed worker. His objectives are to run his business in a manner that will maximize his profits.
Bosses give the big lines and objectives that workers have to follow. We mostly admit that their commitment in companies is risky, as they invest their own capital. If their company goes bankrupt, they lose everything, hence that we turn a blind eye on their bonuses and endorsements if everything turns well. That remains true for small and medium sized companies.
But nowadays, the reality is much more complex, and as corporations grow bigger, several “bosses” compete for the title: who from the investors, the shareholders, the board of administration or the guy whose name is given as the boss, is the real bossy figure?? is it normal that a boss who crashed his company like a defective plane is payed millions to just go away?
A boss is not only at the top of a company. It is the employer you are subordinated to. It is the guy who may sometimes take benefits from exerting a sort of authority and power on you.
In platform games (or RPG or Shoot'em up) the boss is an important figure: it is the character you have to defeat at the very end of the game. It is usually the villain that made you travel through levels to release free a defenseless princess kidnapped at the beginning of the game.
Famous bosses are Wario in Super Mario games or Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog..
So, are bosses evil?
At TomsGames.com, prove that you are the boss, and that the bad guys who think they rule on the universe are wrong. Be a hero and a modern time knight, ready to cross space in your spaceship to defeat them.
