Tom's Games >  Burger

A burger, or hamburger is the name commonly given to a sandwich made of bread and meat. Originally, hamburger was a word from the German language and designed a specialty from Hamburg , a sandwich with roasted pig. This burger was then imported to the USA, probably by German sailors, and then became a national meal in the USA.

Nowadays, burgers belong to fast food with other meals such as pizzas or kebabs for instance. They are served in fast food restaurants. It is a fat meal, indeed, it is commonly composed by two bread slices, one or several beefsteaks, some vegetables ( pickles, lettuce, onions, tomatoes), cheese and some sauce.

Traditional burgers are made of beef meat, but there are also restaurants that make burgers with fish or chicken. Due to the very high number of calories it contains, the burger is often the symbol of junk-food.

Competitive eating events are organized all over the world, and above all in the USA. As amazing as it seems, the holder of the world record is a 26 years old Japanese man who only weighs 132 lbs; he managed to swallow 69 hamburgers in 8 minutes during a contest organized in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
This biggest burger in the world is served in a restaurant in Pennsylvania, USA. As a matter of fact, the Denny's Beer Barrel Pub serves a hamburger containing a burger of 10,5 pounds and 25 slices of cheese.
