Tom's Games >  Chicken

The chicken is a poultry whose white meat is very sought-after.
This animal is cooked and served in many dishes almost everywhere in the world.
The chicken is a young hen or a young rooster. It is slaughtered 90 days after its birth to land on our plates.
In comparison with human beings, the chicken is a sort of teenager whose gender is not known yet: you won't know the sex of this young poultry by lifting up its feathered tail, but you will be able to lay down on whether it is a hen or a rooster if you wait long enough for it to become a mature adult.

Pay attention to the label glued on the packing when you buy a chicken in a supermarket:
The free-range chicken has been raised in a natural environment, and was able to run freely in a yard. Due to its healthy way of life, this sort of chicken tastes very good!
The battery chicken used to be a poor poultry that never got the chance to see the daylight. It lived on a surface crowded with several other chickens and had no space to move whereas a chicken needs a 22m² area to live.
Furthermore, it was treated in a very cruel way: transported in a narrow cage and deposed in a non-ventilated space, it was stuffed almost like a goose, violently captured and slaughtered.
The productivity gained with battery farming compared to the free-range farming probably explains why chicken is one of the less expensive meat in the market.

Recently, the chicken flu, or “H5N1” dealt a severe blow to the poultry business. Chickens were slaughtered by thousands, especially in China, in order to ward off a global catastrophe. Experts believe that human could be in the future exposed to a pandemic if the virus is subjected to several mutations.

Finally, a chicken, or a chick, it is a generic nickname given to women. When macho men whistle a lady, they usually continue to forge ahead and shout “nice chick”.
