A cow is a mammal belonging to the family Bovinae. Cows are bulls females and can weight between 500kgs and 900kgs (1100 to 2000 lbs). As being herbivorous and peaceful animals, cows are raised in herds on large lands where they can graze the grass all day long.

Cattle raising is made both for the milk, which is also used to make cheese, and for the meat. In most of the case, males are destined to the butchery, and the females are kept alive to produce the milk and feed the calves. It is only at the end of their life that cows are brought to the slaughterhouse.

In India, cows are considered as sacred animals. Thus, they are free to wander about the streets without risking being brought to the butchery. In this way, Indian people avoid eating their meat, for them it is a matter of respect for their sacred dimension. In India, cows are the symbol of affluence, wealth, altruism, strength, and a successful life. Besides, many Hindu gods have the shape of cows.
