Cross-country skiing has existed since the Prehistory, it was practiced in Scandinavia where snow has always been omnipresent. Cross-country skiing was used to move on. Scandinavian soldiers used cross-country skiing during a long period. The other technique has been approved since 1985 and is called skating. Once again, the skating technique allows different moves or steps. Four steps exist, the single poling step, the double pole step, the combined step, and the free skating without using the poles.
