From this moment, he has been in charge of the elimination of all the Jedi, including his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Then, an epic fight happened between the two men. Obi-Wan Kenobi defeated Vader, who got both legs cut down and got seriously burnt on a large part of his body. Palpatine found and saved him. His body, suffering from serious injuries, was placed in an armor that he wouldn't leave anymore. Since this moment, Darth Vader took his famous appearance.
