Dracula is a novel by the famous Irish writer Bram Stoker, written in the late nineteenth century. He has created a vampire character that is an immortal who revels in blood of the living beings, inspired on an historical sovereign named Vlad ?epe? (nicknamed Vlad the Impaler), Prince of Wallachia in the fifteenth century. The character of Dracula has been exploited by other authors and has gradually gained notoriety: it is now one of the most famous monsters in the western world.
The faculties proper to Dracula vary between versions. Thus, in Bram Stoker's novel, the vampire king has many powers: he can transform himself into a bat, dog, wolf, fog, increase or decrease his height, control elements (storms, fog, thunder) in a limited space, be guided by some animals such as wolves, foxes, rats, owls, bats or peppered moths, enter the thoughts of persons who has drunk his blood, and more other things. He knows also the necromancy, telepathy, hypnosis. Drinking blood allows him to rejuvenate and become stronger, but the failure to drink blood does not harm his immortal state.
The character of Dracula also has an influence in the world of gaming. The main vampire series is most certainly Castlevania whose various iterations relate confrontations between the Belmont family and Dracula.
