Mount Everest is known as the highest peak in the world: it culminates at 29,029 ft. It is located in Asia, more precisely between China (Tibet), and Nepal, followed closely by the Himalayan K2 (28,251 ft).
Its name was given as an homage to the British colonel Sir George Everest.
