A firecracker, also called banger, is a small explosive device created to produce a noise similar to a detonation. Firecrackers are mostly used to entertain when celebrating some events such as Independence Day or the new year for instance. The most impressive use of firecrackers happens during the celebration of Chinese New Year as every Chinese communities in the world celebrate it with bangers. Firecrackers are very popular, above all among the children and teenagers.

But firecrackers are quite noisy, and they may disturb people in rural middles as well as in urban middles. Moreover, they may be dangerous if they are not used with caution, and as they are mostly used by children, the safety rules are not always respected, and many accidents happen every year all around the world because of improper use.

That is why, a lot of regulations are implemented depending on the countries. Indeed, the laws about firecrackers in the USA are different from a State to another. The sale, the possession, and the use of firecrackers are subject to restrictions, even though firecrackers themselves are not illegal. A permit is generally needed to sale, possess or use bangers.

In some countries, firecrackers became illegal. It is the case for instance in Republic of Ireland or in Sweden. After several serious accidents during the 70's in Singapore, firecrackers became completely illegal, but since 2003, firecrackers can be used again but only during specific celebrations and under the control of the Singapore Tourism Board.
