Far away from the surreal image of a car leaving the road to fly away toward the skies, the flying cars which really existed could hardly take off. The principle of a vehicle mixing both advantages of a car and a plane came out at the beginning of aviation. The goal was to invent a vehicle able to both reach crowded habitation areas where there were no airfields, and cover large distances where there were no roads.

However, inventors who started the project, quickly realized that these two means of transportation did not match, and it was really difficult to set up a reliable vehicle. Most of the plans kept the state of prototype.

People will have to wait for a long time before seeing flying cars similar to those seen in films such as Back to future or harry Potter.
