A forest is a vast and dense woody spot, where numerous tree and plant spices can be found, and where a lot of animals live ( insects, birds, mammals, reptiles ...). Many different kinds of forest exist worldwide with different surface, composition and location.

Boreal forests (also called taïga) are located at the North hemisphere under the tundra strip of arctic areas and are mainly composed of fire trees and conifers Those forests are located at the North of Russia and in Canada.

Temperate forests, as indicated in the name are located in temperate areas of the world. Different kind of temperate forests exist, and the differences rely on its type of flora (temperate coniferous forest, temperate deciduous forest...)
Mediterranean forests have a vegetation that is not really dense and able to resist to wind squalls. One of the typical trees of these forests is the Holm oak.
Mediterranean forests are obviously locates nearby the Mediterranean see, but also in Australia, in the very South of Africa, and in the American West Coast.

The forests located in wet tropical and equatorial environments are called tropical rain forests. Their vegetation is very dense and a very big variety of animals live there. Tropical rain forests are often struck by the deforestation process, that's why they are now protected and are considered as natue reserves
