Gifts are objects that we receive from someone on a particular occasion. It may be for Christmas, for your birthday, to celebrate an encounter or for Saint Valentine's Day. It is always nice to receive a gift for it proves how much someone has been thinking of you and wanted to please you. Yet, giving someone a gift also brings a certain pleasure for we know we will make him happy.

Of course, there are some “poisoned gifts”. Meaning gifts that we would rather not get : the pull-over your dear great aunt has handknitted for instance, and which we absolutely don't like but we have to wear it as to please her... this kind of present is more feared than long-awaited. Gifts are most generally surprises, hence the excitation when you open a package : what are you going to find in it? Has the beloved one managed to figure out your personality or has he/she totally misunderstood you? And so on. Hence, it is also a sort of telltale of the image you radiate, the way you are perceived by others. And that is why it is more difficult to find a gift for someone who is reserved, who expresses so little often his feelings than for someone who is extroverted and often talks of his tastes.
