Tom's Games > Giraffe
Giraffe is one of the most graceful animal on Earth, with dolphin maybe. Picture a giraffe, galloping in the savanna, with its red coat marked out in yellow squares, its long fine neck, its fine features, the long lashes, the wide sweetest eyes... what a picture! Even its name, which comes from Arabic “zarâfah”, means "charming".
Giraffe's step is really characteristic, it results from the fact that giraffes raise both legs of the same side at the same time. When galloping, giraffes can run up to 35 mph! But more generally, they move in a 10 mph average speed.
To feed, giraffes have the advantage to achieve - with its 5 meters high- the highest branches of trees. Thus, they don't have to share at all the tree tops and can delight in acacia leaves. As for drinking, giraffes push its forelegs aside and fall the neck up to the source of water. Thankfully, this very acrobatic posture is never held for a long time...
Giraffes live in Africa, mainly in Kenya and in Tanzania. When it drops, the giraffe stands, and its baby falls of 2 meters when it comes into being! If it hasn't break any member, it stands within the hour and is able to suck at his mother's teats. If it does not reach there, it will be abandoned or even killed by its own mother.
And guess what!... Well, almost all babies have already seen a giraffe: Yes, Sophie the Giraffe! This rubber toy you can nibble at as much as you want, is very appreciated by infants, who can press it or send it against something so that it produces a magnificent sound!
