Happy Tree Friends is a series of animated films which at first glance looks like a cartoon that includes dozens of episodes, all quite violent and not suitable for children. It starts with a typical jinggle presentation where the characters of the episode are presented.

In episodes of Happy Tree Friends, there are several characters, as Lumpy, the stupid though nice moose, Nutty, the crazy squirrel, Flippy the villain who does not love others or Cuddles, the emotionally naive child. In each sketch, the majority of the characters die in a tragic and gory way, but the fun is undeniably there.

Originally, Happy Tree Friends is a series of short internet movies created in 1999 on a amateur basis by Mondo. But they saw hundreds of millions of downloads, so Happy Tree Friends have been adapted for film, video game and have dozens of by-products starring the characters.

The show is nearly free of dialogue; however, when the characters do speak, their words are severely garbled. Though it is obvious what each character's reaction is, their words can hardly be understood at all. According to the website, the idea for Happy Tree Friends was conceived by Rhode Montijo when he drew a yellow rabbit slightly resembling the character Cuddles on a piece of paper.
Many parents have expressed concern about the graphic content of Happy Tree Friends. One parent even complained about the show in a letter to the Washington Post when she saw her 6-year-old son watching the show.
