Hitman is a serial of action/infiltration games developed by IO Interactive a development studio now related to Eidos. The games have been released on computer and many other video game consoles like the PS2, the gamecube, and the Xbox. The serial also gave birth to a movie , and a novel with the universe and the characters of the game was written. The serial has 4 episodes and a 5th is being developed for computer, PS3 and Xbox360.

In every version of Hitman, the player plays as the agent 47 a contact killer who has to kill people designed by his customers. Before starting any mission, the player is given the possibility to chose which instruments and weapon he will use to clear the mission. To get closer to the target and silently kill it without being caught, discretion and guile are needed. In this way, the agent 47 is able to change his clothes and wear uniforms so as to get in some watched places, or try to get bodyguards focused on a trap, to sneak toward the target.

Hitman is a very successful serial. Its captivating and interesting gameplay seduced so many players worldwide. The fact of playing as a contact killer who has to play more on stealth than violence is obviously a good alternative to other games of this type.
