Homer Simpson is one of the main characters in the American animated television series The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening in 1987. The series depicts the story of a weird family belonging to the American middle class.

Homer is the father of the Simpson family. He is married with Marge and had three children with her. Bart is the elder child and the most unruly, Liza is a smart and wise girl, and the youngest is Maggie. Homer does not really take care of his children, he often fights against Bart, and even forgets the existence of Maggie. He doesn\'t get along with his wife\'s sisters, Selma and Patty. He hates them, but the person he hates the most, is his neighbor Ned Flanders. Homer also has a brother and a sister, but they don\'t appear that much in the series. His father, Abraham is a senile old man, neglected by his son, and is a recurrent character of the series.

Homer works as a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant owned by Montgomery Burns. He is definitely a bad employee and often provokes disasters. He spends most of his working time (when he is present at his job) eating doughnuts and sleeping. Lenny and Carl are his colleagues and two of his best friends with Barney. These four characters often meet at the Moe\'s bar to drink their favorite beer, the Duff.

Homer is not a genius, he has a very low IQ, and estimations would put his IQ at 55. However he has a very robust body, despite all the shocks and knocks he receives in any episodes, he has never got seriously injured.
