Iceberg : All The Best Free Flash Games Relating To Iceberg

An iceberg is an ice block which pulled away from a glacier or from an ice barrier. The word comes from the Norwegian “isfjell” which means mountain of ice. They develop following the frost of soft water, either from ice barriers or from glaciers.
Some icebergs can reach more than 75 meters height from the sea level! The expression “mountain of ice” is therefore rather appropriate.

These floating mountains may represent a great danger to boats. When adrift, their route can't be precisely determined in advance and scientists must keep an eye on their moving so as to avoid any sort of tragedy.

Bearing in mind that only 10% of the iceberg can be seen above the water, it seems quite logical that these ice monsters may represent a great risk to ships and to their occupants.

Boats rarely hit icebergs, and fortunately for the majority of them, they do not suffer any damages. However, sometimes, icebergs are so huge that even boats considered as “unsinkable” may be the victims of those ice blocks. This happened to the Titanic, which sank in 1912, a few hours after it collided head-on with an iceberg.

The biggest iceberg that was ever registered is the B-15 which pulled away from an ice barrier in the Antarctic. It measured more that 11 000km acreage, that is even bigger than Jamaïca!
