Indiana Jones is a fictional character created by, producer, director and screenwriter George Lucas known for his Star Wars trilogy and prelogy. Indiana Jones is also the name of a franchise based on the adventures of Indi, whose rights belong to Lucas and Spielberg. In addition to the eponymous four movies, the franchise has declined his name on a lot of media: books (novels, collections, comics) , by-products, video games and TV series.

Indiana made its first appearance in 1981, with Harrison Ford as an actor. When writing the adventures of Indi, Lucas had in mind the heroes of the films of the 30s who were searching for treasures, in scenes tinged with humour, action and adventure. He ended up giving birth to Indiana Jones, an eminent scholar and professor of archaeology who embarks on adventures full of pitfalls, and where he often crosses the path of the Nazis.

The first opus "Raiders of the Lost Ark" takes place in 1936, 3 years after Hitler's accession to power in Germany. In this film we see Indi tracking down the Nazis who want to steal the ark of the covenant. The sequel "The Temple of Doom” is released in 1984 and takes place in India. Dr. Jones saves children from a blood thirsty sect. In 1989 "The Last Crusade" is released with Sean Connery in the role of Indi's father. This episode sees the return to power of the Nazis, who want the Holy Grail.

The Indiana Jones movies have the power to appeal to young ones as well as to adults. It conveys magic, mysticism, supernatural, epic adventure, humour and love. The scenes are filmed at a frenetic pace and our leather-jacket-wearing hero, always solve puzzles and escapes from ancestral traps ... The last episode to date Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is centred on Roswell, and was for many spectators a great disappointment…

Originally the actor approached to play Indiana Jones was... Tom Selleck! But he was too busy shooting the Magnum series…
