The Jedis are knights who fight to maintain order and justice througout the universe in the famous space opera saga created by George Lucas : Star Wars. Jedis are members of an ancient and noble monastic order. They are recruited at a very young age and devote their whole life to training and meditation in order to control the Force and assimilate the precepts that flow from it. There are six Jedi ranks within the Order. Young people who integrate the Jedi academy are considerate as Jedi students. After graduating from the academy, they could become aprentice of Jedi knights or Jedi Masters to reach the status of Padawan. Skilled and experienced Padawans could obtain the honorary rank of Jedi knights once they have completed "the trials" which test the skills, knowledge and dedication of the candidates. Jedi Master is a title allowed to Jedi nights who had successfully trained Padawan to became acomplished Knight. Only the elite, the best Jedi Masters are able to sit on the Jedi Council as Jedi council member. Finally, the highest rank of the Jedi Order is Jedi Grand master (also known as Supreme Master). Only the most wise Jedi of the Council can obtain this rank. For instance the old Yoda was granted this supreme title.
