The jump is a move based on an impulse that allows a body to move over the floor during few seconds and then to fall farther back to the ground depending on the conditions.

Concerning the technical aspect, the body's weight is allocated in certain organs and then, by a contraction and extension move, all this weight is released in order to leave the ground, resulting in a jump. The legs are bended at the knee level, so is the back, then, by a slackening of the body, which stretches progressively, we just jump.

It is possible to jump standing or with impulse. The speed accumulated during the run will carry the body farther and it will result in a longer jump.

The jump is among the most common activity in sport, but it is also true about leisures : bungee jumping, parachute jump, leapfrog, etc. Show jumping is a horseriding event that consists in making a horse jump over objects such as hurdles or rills.

Athletics events have 4 jumping events :
The long jump consists in getting a running start on a track and then run towards a sand area while taking care not to overstep the mark thats delineates the run area, before jumping. The world record is 8.95 meters by Mike Powell in 1991.
The triple bond looks like the previous one, except that the athlete has to jump three times. The world record was established by Jonathan Edwards in 1995 with 18.29 meters.
The high jump features an athlete jumping over a bar located at adjustable height after an approach run. The world record was established back in 1993 by Javier Sotomayor with 2.45 meters.
The pole vault features a jumper who has got to pass over a bar with a flexible pole that folds under the athlete's impulsion. Serguei Boobka established both indoor and outdoor records with respectively 6.15 et 6.14 meters since 1994.
