King Kong is a giant ape (gorilla) who appears in several movies. King Kong is actually a primate of the Mesozoic era (that of the emergence of several dinosaurs) living on the island of Skull Island (imaginary island located east of Sumatra). All animals should have disappeared by the end of the Cretaceous era, but it was not for the multiple earthquakes that struck the island and allowed all this little world to survive thanks to the formation of thermal chimney.

In 1933, the island was discovered by Carl Denham, a filmmaker in search of inspiration and King Kong was brought to New York to be presented as "the 8th Wonder of the World." However, he managed to escape and climbed up to the top of the Empire State Building (the most famous scene in the film) to protect Ann Darrow, an actress in decline. It will finally be killed by fighters at the top of the Empire State Building.

King Kong appears or is the main character in many films. The most recent was shot in 2005, and was directed by Peter Jackson [trilogy The Lord of the Rings]. It lasts more than 3 hours, which makes it the longest of all “King Kong” remake. He was rewarded 3 Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
