“The emperor's new groove” is the title of the animated cartoon released in 2000 and produced by Walt Disney.
It tells the story of Kuzco, an egocentric, self-centered character, the king, or rather the emperor of navel-gazing.
He's only 18 years old. But he already knows what he wants: not only does he want to build a summer house on the lands of a neighboring village, but he also intends to build a gigantic swimming pool!
But, too focused on this project, he doesn't realize his counselor, Yzma, only dreams of killing Kuzco and becoming the next empress.

So, one night, she decides to invite Kuzco for dinner, to administer him a mortal poison. Unfortunately for her, instead of using the poison, she takes the vial containing the potion that transformed Kuzco into a llama.

To avoid any sort of problems, she asks her associate, Kronk, to get rid of the emperor. However, as he is a bit silly and rather kind, Kuzco, instead of killing him, abandons the unconscious llama.
This is how Kuzco wakes up in the very same village he intends to build his summer house on.

With the help of a villager, Pacha, he decided to go back home. At first, the peasant helps him. But when he realizes Kuzco, despite him being transformed into a llama, doesn't intend in changing his building plans on Pacha's village, he decides to abandon him.

Then Pacha changes his mind and goes back where he left Kuzco to help him. After many adventures and surprises, catastrophes and incidents, they manage to find Yzma: suddenly Kuzco understands that she was the one who tried to poison him. He decides to go back to Yzma's laboratory to find the remedy to this potion.

All's well that ends well, Kuzco turns back into a human, Pacha's village is safe an Yzma, who turned into a “lovely” kitten, had but her vocal cords to meow.
