Lightsabers are the weapons used by the Jedi knights in the saga space opera Star Wars directed by George Lucas. Unlike ordinary sabers, lightsabers have a blade made of energy instead of an metallic blade. With such weapons, the knights can deflect blasters shots (some kind of futurist guns firing plasma or energy bullets) and cut any material like if it were just butter.

Every Jedi, so as to finish his long learning period, must confection his own lightsaber by inserting a specific crystal, which gives the color of the energy blade. There are different lightsabers. In addition to classical lightsabers like those of Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, there are short sabers (like Yoda's saber) or the lightsabers with a double blade, such as Darth Maul's one.
