Monkey D. Luffy is a fictional character from the cartoon and manga series One Piece. He is a teenager who wants to become a big pirate so as to discover to most fabulous treasure ever, the One Piece. To do so, he will first have to create his own crew, and get a real pirate boat. In his adventures, he meets various characters that will make part of the crew, such as Zorro, Nami and Tony Toy Chopper.

Luffy has a curse, he is made of rubber, which is very practical during fightings, but is also a burden, because every man made of rubber sinks like a stone in the water, which is a limit for a pirate !

He is starring in One Piece, which is a manga composed by 46 comics in Japan. The story was published for the first time in Japan in 1997 in the Jump magazine. One Piece is the most famous serial in Japan, the 24th comics even held the record becoming for a long time the book that made the biggest sales, before being beaten by the 6th tome of Harry Potter.

There is also a cartoon about One Piece, broadcast on Fuji TV in Japan since 1999.
