Luge : All The Best Free Flash Games Relating To Luge

a Luge is a small vehicle carrying usually one or two persons. It is designed to slide down a snow-covered slope and doesn\'t need a driving force to move. It is a simple board, usually made of plastic or wood, on which you sit or lay. When going down a slope, the trajectory of the course can be deflected simply by leaning on one side of the luge. Luge is sometimes equipped with brakes, allowing to slow down in very tricky parts of the course.

It was first used for its recreational potential during boring winters, and became soon kid\'s favorite downhill activity.

But it\'s also a sport, which became part of the Olympic Games in 1964. In competition, the vehicle is not equipped with brakes or steering. Riders, or “lugers”, lay on the luge, and must remain in this sliding position all along the course.

Luge

Luge tracks look like those of Bobsleigh, as they are zigzagging and form a sort of opened tube.

To avoid being swept away from their vehicle because of the wind pressure, lugers must have a very very strong body and all muscles bended! Indeed, the fastest luge speed has been recorded at 86,6mph ( almost 140km/h!) by Tony Benshoof, an American leader in his category, with 25 international rewarded medals!!

Speaking of records, the longest and fastest natural tracks for luge are still located in St Moritz the mother land of sled activities. But you can also slide down artificial tracks, or even down streets! Some brave men practice indeed “street-luge”, a type of luge fixed on wheels!!
