Miniature golfs are a kind of golf replica of a lower size, often practiced during summer time like beach tennis or petanque. Many minigolf rounds have been made close to campings or beaches for people in vacation.

The tracks of the course are only a few feet long and about 1 meter large so that children may also play easily. The surfacing may be beton, eternite or felt.

The purpose of the game is to put the ball in the hole in a minimum number of strokes. They are conventionally 18 holes in a minigolf course. Obstacles of many sorts scatter across the course. You may find stones, windmills, dinosaurs, bumps, castles, loops, and any other things that crossed the builders' mind when they made a course.

Minigolf is also played professionally and contests are organized. A maximum of seven tries are possible to put the ball into the hole. Some rules allow the player to pass an obstacle if he already failed 3 times. Some very good players succeeding in putting 18 holes-in-one on eternite. This score hasn't been reached officially yet on other kinds of grounds.

International tournaments are also organized, like the Harris Cup or the European Cup. Even though male and female players are competing separately, women are often achieving better performances than men!
