Moles are small animals belonging to the Talpidae family. They dig vasts underground tunnels and live there. They have an elongated body and very long claws adapted to their underground moves.

Their diet is almost exclusively composed by worms and numerous invertebrate insects that they find while digging. Once the prey is flushed out, moles can immobilize it with their saliva that contains toxin so as to keep it alive and eat it later.

There is also a particular mole specie called star-nosed mole that can easily be recognized thanks to its strange muzzle composed by 22 little tentacles used as tactile organs so as to explore the environments and hunt the preys.

In many countries, moles are regarded as a plague for agriculture. Their activities in the fields can damage plants, allow weeds to grow up, and enable the arrival of unwanted rodents that pass through the tunnels dug by the moles. They also may make the irrigation canals dirty with the land that they move on their way.
