The most similar animals from human kind are monkeys, with which we share a large part of our DNA and genetic patrimony, only 3 to 4% different from ours, according to researches. One similarity is the fact that we both are able to walk on two legs, whereas other animals cannot. Monkeys are bipeds, just like us.

The species that are the most known are gorillas, bonobos, chimpanzees and orangutans. Monkeys may be very clever and affectionate. Those who studied them declared that they are capable of empathy, altruism and are very sensible. They also have a quiet evolved language, can use tools to eat and live in big groups for some species. Their brain is more developed than the rest of the animals. They may be 13 cm tall to almost 2 meters and weight to 275 kg for the gorilla. They have nails and can grab hold of objects.

Monkey eat mostly fruits, but also roots or leaves. They live mostly in hot weather countries (tropical, equatorial or subtropical climates). Most territories are now protected for many species have unfortunately already disappeared from the Earth. Monkeys extinction is due to men who practice illegally poaching to sell bush meat or some parts of the monkeys' body like their foot.

Monkeys have a very expressive face that is very similar from ours. Some are making shows and their funny faces make everybody laughs. We can see them in zoos or during animal shows. Some professionals taught them words and how to count, which is very impressive.

Also, monkeys are the only animals to make love face to face. Their intercourses are very comparable to humans'. They may even engage tongue-kissing with their lover!
