Tom's Games >  Mouse

A mouse is a very small animal that belongs to the order of rodents. When it got locked up in a house, it lives in the attic, in the cave or in-between walls. Some 30 species characterize this mammal, but many more mammals are often considered as belonging to the mouse, swelling the ranks of mice species.
The shrew for instance is often regarded as a long-nosed mouse, yet it's not even related to the rodents.

Depending on their natural environments, mice species present multiple differences.
These herbivores are preys for all sorts of animals like cats, birds, snakes... Owls have the particularity to expel little pellets made of hairs and mice bones. If you dissect this little ball of hairs, you can bring back to “life” the skeleton of several mice...

The “common house mouse” is the best-known mouse specie. This white mouse is used as a guinea pigs for pharmaceutical companies and drug laboratories. It was named “house mouse” because it is very likely to live closed to human housings. They may cause great damages in a house, hence that many inhabitants often think to get rid of them by placing a little chunk of cheese on a mousetrap.

Many mice characters are featured in cartoons and books. Disney's mice characters are Bernard and Miss Bianca (2 mice who commit to bring back kidnapped children), Ratatouille, and of course Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Mice are also dominant in the collective beliefs.
In several countries, the tooth-fairy is pictured as a mouse. The “little mouse” is a made-up character whose existence is revealed to a child by his parents when he loses a tooth. Parents make their child believe that if he places his tooth under his pillow, a mouse will substitute it for a gift.
