Tom's Games >  Rayman

Rayman is an action video game character and series created in 1995 and still developed until nowadays.
With the success of Mario and Sonic, platform-based games have been widely spreading among gamers. That is the reason why the Guillemot brothers who created UbiSoft (the French computer and video games publisher) decided to address this market by launching a new series of video games, Rayman, the first episodes of which have been made by Michel Ancel (also father of Beyond Good and Evil)

Rayman is very much looks like a cartoon character: it has neither arms nor legs but he does have some feet and hands, which influences the way he behaves and moves in the game: he is able to propel his fists at relatively long distance.

Rayman's action usually takes place outdoors, in various settings such as forests, snowy lanscapes, as well in imaginary environments (school-stationery-world or musical-instrument-world). There are other recurring characters along the games such as Betilla, but the spotlight is only on Rayman.

In the 1999, Rayman takes a taste of 3D in Rayman 2 : the Great Escape and then in Rayman 3 : Hoodlum Havoc in 2003. Later on in 2006, The first opus of the award-winning series Rayman Raving Rabbids in which our hero is captured by Rabbids (anthropomorphic rabbits). The series has made quite an impression on Nintendo Wii, were (just like on Playstation 2), the platform aspect is put aside to give us a “party game”.

All games of the series together have sold up to 23 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video game franchise of all time.
