Tom's Games > Reversi
Reversi, which was also marketed under the name Othello, exists since the 19th century in England. The modern version of the Reversi was created by a Japanese in the 1970s.
It is the Japanese who changed the name into Othello (as a reference to Shakespeare's play).
Reversi is a strategic game in which 2 players face each other. The grid is made up of 64 squares, and looks a bit like a chessboard or checkerboard. The game is also playable on a computer.
Players have 64 markers, black on one side, white on the other (they are commonly referred to as light and dark). Players have to add one marker at a time, as strategically as possible. All this seems very easy but in fact, players develop unbelievable skills and tactics. In order to win, the color chosen must be the one filling the grid. By adding one marker, the player may create light or dark horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines.
The players must keep in mind that they have to do everything so as to defeat their adversaries so that they won't be able to turn your markers in his favor. Reversi is an amazing game. You are constantly on the alert for no move is foreseeable.
National contests are organized by amateurs of this famous and appreciated game. People from all generations love it.
A World Competition is even organized!
You will fin many interesting games. No matter you're a newbie or an expert, have a field day with it.
