Robin Hood is a character who is part of the British folklore. Walt Disney resumed his story to make an animated cartoon about him.

He is famous in all countries as the one who is “stealing from the rich and giving to the poor”. In the Walt Disney version, Robin Hood is surrounded with fellow companions like Little John and lives with them in Sherwood Forest. Robin Hood is extremely skilled and uses his bow to steal from the rich. He then gives the money back to poor people.

Prince John, who stole the place of his beloved brother, Richard the Lionheart, who left for the Crusades, decides to put the kibosh on Robin Hood stealing. Indeed, the main interest of the villain Prince is to get back and steal all Kingdom's wealth. But Robin is a menace to him because, cunning as a fox, he avoids all Prince John's traps!

Robin Hood appeared for the first time in writings from the late 14th century. During the Middle-Ages, the character is said to have taken part in, or at least supported, Richard the Lionheart's Crusade around the 12th century.

It is however not likely that it was the case. Despite disagreements between historians, nobody really knows whether Robin truly existed or not.
Some theories suggest that the nickname Robin Hood was in fact used so as to hide the true name of a famous outlaw at that time. But, to some other people, Robin Hood was just a fictional character, mainly present in medieval ballads.
