Scrabble is a word game created in 1938 as a variation of another word game. Each player takes randomly 7 letters among all the letters, and hides them from the sight of his opponents. Every player plays on its turn and the goal is to score points by forming words on the game board. The words can be formed across and down in crosswords fashion, the only imposition is that the words have to appear in a standard dictionary.
The aim is to score as many points as possible. Each letter has a certain point value, and some squares of the game board can multiply the points of a letter or a complete word. These special squares can be considered only once. Therefore when a player reuses a word that were multiplied by a special square, to form a new word, the player will only score the regular number of points, and won't benefit the multiplication.
Scrabble can be played by two to four players and asks for a lot of vocabulary knowledges. In addition, slang words are not allowed. In the USA, one family out of three has a Scrabble, and it was adapted in video games like many other board games.
