We count four distinct seasons for the countries that have a temperate climate: spring, summer, autumn and winter. You certainly have understood, seasons are what is the most natural on this planet. However, it is difficult to describe seasons since their characteristics can radically change according to your location. Winter, for instance, is usually covered by snow in northern European countries, whereas it is very mild in the countries that have a Mediterranean climate. Yet, we can still observe some common points: for instance, in temperate countries, fruit trees do not have any leaf in winter, they see their bud bloom during spring, their fruits grow during summer and rot during autumn. The bears mate during spring, and give birth in winter, while they are hibernating.

Seasons really vary thanks to the Earth rotation, which effectively exposes successively the different sides of the globe to the sun's rays. Indeed, we are in winter in one hemisphere when, on the other side, it's summer!

Today, we also talk of season for TV shows. In that case, a season designates a section of a series. Seasons are generally shot one after the other, but in a discontinuous way. De facto, there is a time of waiting for the fans between each of them. A season, even if it is a continuation, is very often marked by great changes (new characters, memorable events...) and keeps a certain autonomy that we may compare with the different parts of a trilogy for the cinema.
