Tom's Games >  Skiing

Skiing is an Olympic sport practiced in the mountains on snow-covered slopes, but it can also be practiced on sand, water, pine spines or grass! Basically, you need special boots that are in connection with your skis as to let you make for wherever you wish to head, though you'll have to be going down the hill anyway.

Snow skiing is usually practiced in winter on natural snow, but summer skiing sessions begin to be more and more common thanks to artificial snow, though you can also be skiing in summer on natural glaciers if there are high enough to keep everlasting snow.
Alpine skiing is most commonly practiced during downhill skiing sessions. However, cross country skiing is also very appreciated for it allows you to discover nature in wilder places like the pine forests. You may also try other disciplines like biathlon, ski jumping, or speed skiing. The current speed record was performed by Simone Origone (an Italian) who slid down the piste at 156 mph!

At first, skiing was a means of transportation which dates from about 4000 years before Christ and comes from Sweden. Skiing as a sport appeared much later in Norway during the mid-nineties.
Today, thousands of families enjoy going to ski resorts once a year to ski, but also to make snowball fights or to ice-skate, or to breath the very fresh and clean air from mountains.
