Tom's Games > Snooker
Snooker is a variant of pool, which is played on 11 feet and 8,5 inches by 6,8 feet table with a cue ball (called "shock ball"), 15 red balls and 6 of different colors. The aim is to hit the cue ball with the tip of a stick called the "cue" so that it pushes the other balls in the holes (called pockets) around the table (there are 6 of them). Every ball that goes into a hole allows the player to score points, but any fault of course, take points away, the winner is the one whose total of point is the highest.
The ball used for snooker are smaller than for French or American pool. At the beginning of the game colored balls are placed on their "spot" (i.e.marks on the table, used to locate the balls).
The game unfolds according to two phases: first the players must play the red ball then the colored balls alternately, with the aim of "pocketing" them, which give a number of different points. If a player fails to pocket the ball (other than the white) he has to stops its series it is the other player's turn.
Once all the red balls are "pocketed" the second phase of the game is to "pocket" the colored balls in ascending order of their value, namely: yellow (2 pts), green (3 pts), brown (4 pts), blue (5 pts), pink (6 pts), and black (7 pts). The game ends when the black ball is pocketed.
