Tom's Games >  Snow ball fight

When winter is white, snowball fights are a must for grown ups and children.
Participants attack each other by throwing little balls made of snow collected from the ground.

Snowballs are at everybody's fingertips, providing the landscape is covered with at least a thin blanket of snow.
But because snow temperature raises at no more than 0 Celsius degree, you'd better be wearing a hat, a scarf, a jacket and a pair of gloves to throw yourself into this adventure.

Making teams is not required in this winter sport for which no holds are barred.
If the layer of snow is sufficient, you can build a snow-bulk aimed at protecting you from adversaries' attacks.
From your post, you can shoot back at them very easily!
But be cautious not to pack your snowballs too hard as they could hurt your playground's friends.

The advantage of this harmless war game is that it is totally free! The disadvantage of it is that for many people, snow only falls one day during the year, or even never.

One last downside of this activity, is that it can turn quite badly, as it did in a campus of East Carolina during the 2009 winter, when the friendly game ended up into a wild riot involving the intervention of policemen equipped with self-defense pepper sprays.
Some reports also showed that snowballs are sometimes stuffed with very dangerous items (nails, rocks...), as for some Halloween treats..

But it's not always the case: the wide-scale snowball fight organized in Budapest the same year, mustered hundreds of cheerful participants in good spirits.
