A soccer game is a confrontation between two soccer teams according to some specified rules. A professional soccer game opposes two clubs or two national teams. During international games, the national anthems are played before the beginning of the game.

There are eleven players in each team, ten of them are field players, and one is the goal keeper. There can be no soccer game without a referee. Nowadays, there are 4 referees in charge for a soccer game, the main referee, his two assistants, and a substitute referee in case of injury.

During championship and league games, the soccer game can not exceeds 90 minutes. If two teams scored the same number of goals at the end of the 90 minutes, they tie the game.
During playoffs there can be no draw, and in case of draw the players have to play an extra time of 30 minutes (two periods of 15 minutes). If there still no winner at the end of the game, a penalty kick session decides between the two teams.

During the penalty kick session, each team has 5 shots to do, and the winner is the team which scored more than the other. But if after the 5 first penalty kicks there is still a draw, extra penalties are shot until a team takes the lead and wins the game.

But there are not only professional soccer games, and amateur soccer games can be organized as well. In these games, some teams don't have necessarily the same number of players and most of the time, there are no referees.
