In science fiction, or in video games, a spaceship is a vehicle able to fly through the space. Spaceships may be used for various purposes. For instance, they may be useful only to move from a planet to another, but they can also have laser canons and be used as military vehicles, and if they are very big, they may be used as a habitat, where all the crew members live in.

The shape of a spaceship may vary a lot from a model to another and depending on the imagination of the creators which can be be more or less developed. In this way, if some alien's spaceships have a fairly basic round shape, others are built in length and are quite aerodynamic, some have a very original shape such as the [url=]X-Wing[/url] imagined by George Lucas for the movie Star Wars and other spaceships are kind of true space combat station such as The Death Star from the same movie.

Spaceships can be grouped depending on their size. First of all, there are the light spaceships like the fighters and the bombers that are generally small and easy to handle, that are quite powerful but not very robust. Then, there are the medium sized spaceships such as a frigate or a corvette. Eventually, there are the heavy spaceships such as the destroyers, heavy cruisers, battleships, or the capital ships that are heavily armed and have a very strong armor-plate, but are fairly slow and hard to handle.
