SpongeBob is a sponge who looks like a man: he talks, walks on 2 legs, wears a shirt and a tie. The character was created by Stephen Hillenburg, a director and a biologist. An animated series has been conducted to capture the story of Bob and his friends like Patrick Star. In addition to the main heroes, the series consists of various animals more or less real living extraordinary adventures.

The series takes place in the Pacific Ocean, in Bikini Bottom, a fictional underwater city. SpongeBob lives in a pineapple-house ans has a squid for neighbour. Bob's best friend is a starfish, called Patrick Star ; he also have a snail-pet named Gary, who meows like a cat! Bob works as a fry cook in a fast-food restaurant : The Krusty Krab, owned by Eugene Krab. Bob has another friend called Sandy Cheeks, a squirrel carrying researches for her boss. She wears an astronaut-like suit to be able to breathe underwater.

The 1st season was released in 1999, and the series continued to exist ever since, with more than 120 episodes. It was broadcast on the Nickelodeon network, cartoons specialist channel, Nickelodeon, Teletoon, Canal J. In addition, there are many by-products which have experienced incredible success such as a dozen video games portraying Sponge Bob.
