Superman was born in 1933 thanks to the inspiration of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two friends who had met at the Cleveland (Ohio) high-school. Both fond of science-fiction, they published a fanzine (a magazine not much broadcast) called Science Fiction. Siegel was the scenarist, and Shuster the draftsman. The name of Superman appeared for the first time in this fanzine, in a story quite surprising in so far as it dealt with a mad-doctor who gave superpowers to a man(Superman), who turned mean and vicious.

1934 is the year of Superman's second birth. His creators defined the universe surrounding the hero : his roots from krypton, Kal-El, Clark Kent his other identity, Lois lane the woman he is in love with, his blue and red suit, with the big S on his chest etc... In spite of everything, the publishers are reluctant to publish it. But four years later, the creators are called by the publishing house DC Comics so as to appear in the Action Comics' pages.

Before appearing in Action Comics, the character of Superman underwent many changes. After the first failure of the comic, Siegel decided to completely modify his copy : he makes Superman a defender of the helpless people.
And since 1938, Superman has always been a charismatic and powerful character, who defends the fair causes as know today
