Table football or table soccer (GB)/fooseball (US) is a football game played on a special table, often in bars, pubs or in amusement arcades.

In table football, plastic footballers (they can also be made out of wood, metal or carbon-fibres) are attached to horizontally mobile metal rods. Just like in soccer, there are 11 players per team and the goal is to score more goals than your opponent by being the first to achieve a number of goals (five, ten or eleven in competition) or having the highest score after a definite period of time.

Although more ancient version of this table-top sport was played since the 1890s, the game has we known it was invented in 1923 by Harold S.Thornton. He created it from a box of matches.

Usually, tables are 4 feet (ft) by 2 feet (ft) with 8 rows of “player” (called foos men) controlled by 1,2 or 3 players on each team. There are several types of table “French-style”, “American-style”,“Italian-style” and “German-style”. The ball used can also be a different materials such as : plastic, cork, wood, metal and even marble!

The Largest soccer table was designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, it measures 23 feets (ft) and allows 11 players per side to play at the same time (like in a real soccer game). This table is in Berlin.
