Miles Prower, also known as Tails, is Sonic's (The Hedgehog) sidekick and mechanic of his plane (Tornado). Tails is a humanoid two-tailed fox, able fly in the air for a limited amount of time. He first appeared in 1992 in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (where he has been kidnapped by the evil Dr Robotnik), before starring in his own game among which Tails Adventures in 1995. This is the first spin-off game around the Sonic series, which combines both RPG (Role Playing Game) and platforming elements. Tails will never appear without Sonic after that game. It is worth noting that the original Japanese version is different from the Western version, especially as far as the plot is concerned.

Tails was originally created to create a kind emulation with Sonic. His name is a pun on “miles per hour” (Miles prower), in reference to Sonic unchallenged speed. Just like Sonic (Super Sonic), Tails also has a turbo form, during which he has a golden appearance and is assisted by four birds. As many other characters of the Sonic series, Tails was re-designed on various occasions: his color fluctuates between hues of yellow and orange to light brown.

Ever since he was created Tails has received a wide acclaim from the players.
