Tuning is a redneck hobby to some people. It consists in tuning one's car, either by painting it, adding some accessories so as to make the car more visible, and to modify it by changing the upholstery or the ailerons.

Aesthetic modifications for tuning a car may cost a lot, it may vary from several hundreds to several thousands of dollars.

Originally, tuning concerned cars, but more and more people do it, on two-wheelers or on trucks, as well as any other vehicle, be it motorized or not.

This hobby is so well spread now, that, following the country where the cars are tuned, styles are completely different: in Germany the tuning is quite sober, whereas in Spain, people use loads of colors and lights to create the one, the “one and only” car!
However, these trends seem to cross the borders and tuning has become a lot more”uniform” than before.

Now, even though the majority of tuned cars are quite recent, a specific type of tuning, called the “Hot Rod” is destined to cars which appeared before 1950.
The first “hot rodders” started to tune their cars in 1930!! At that time, nothing was really extravagant: the idea was simply to improve the car as much as possible, but they were nevertheless the precursors of modern tuning.

Tuning lovers often meet during competitions so as to show the latest modifications on the vehicle and to vote for the best car.

It even spread so much that nowadays, in some fields such as informatics, geeks work twice as hard to tune their computers!
