Vacation is a time off that usually lasts several consecutive days. In that time, children are off school, students off classes, and the ones who are working enjoy a (paid) break. Vacation are always very expected for they are the only moment of the year that you can use to relax, have fun, travel, see those in your family who live far from you....

Vacation, vacare in Latin, means “being without”, which probably refers to the fact that we are without any obligation. The English were the first around 1880 to establish the notion of going when they had some free time, whereas before (19th c.) the rich people would use this time do not nothing. Vacation time varies from country to country. If you are Japanese, you'll get no more than 7 days, but if you are French you'll get 5 weeks vacation!

Vacation time is usually spread in several moments in the year. Children often get some time off at each season (summer vacation being the longest one). When it is vacation time, roads are often stormed by millions cars because the majority has its vacation in the same time! Making reservations is the best solution if you don't want to be forced to sleep in your car...hotels being overbooked!
