Vegeta is a character from the famous manga and cartoon Dragon Ball. He is the son of the Saiyans' king and was raised during his youth with the idea of being the ultimate warrior, the most powerful of the Saiyans.

He first appeared in the manga when he was sent with his accomplice Nappa to the Earth by Freezer, in order to relief Radditz, another Saiyan, who failed in conquering the planet. Vegeta and Nappa are therefore in confrontation against Son Goku's friends. The future of the Earth depends on a fight opposing Son Goku to Vegeta, during which Son Goku resists enough to compel Vegeta to flee.

According to the different periods, Vegeta turns into an ally or an enemy of Son Goku's group. Son Goku's life was saved by Vegeta during his fight against C 19. Vegeta missed the opportunity to kill Cell when he gave C 18's life and power to Son Goku.

During a fight against Boo, and due to the amazing strength of this opponent, Vegeta and Son Goku were compelled to merger, which displeased Vegeta and affected his pride. It is in this part of the manga that Vegeta admits than Son Goku has always been stronger.

The rivalry between Son Goku and Vegeta is a major topic throughout the manga. As a matter of fact, Vegeta permanently tries to be ahead of Son Goku, but he always fails. If little by little Son Goku regards Vegeta as a partner, and even as a friend, Vegeta always gives the feeling that he hates him.
